Has anyone used a old flat bed trailer/car trailer to put there toon on for the winter? If so could you post pic of how it was done. Im looking for a trailer for a tritoon to get it out of the water and store it for winter. It only will be driven less the a mile.funds are low and im trying to keep cost down.

Dont see why it wouldn't work as long as the toons are sitting on old tires. Or some thing to protect the logs.

How do you plan getting the boat on the trailer. I see no reason it would hurt the toons sitting on a flatbed trailer if it's wide and long enough. But getting the boat on the trailer could be a different story.

In my neck of the woods, there are a number of shoe-string dock repair guys who use old pontoons as work platforms. Some only use a flatbed trailer not only to carry angle-iron, but the pontoon as well. They pretty much know where the front has to be on the trailer and dunk the trailer and drive the pontoon to that point. They keep it in forward as the truck slowly pulls out until the pontoon isn't going to slide off, kill the engine and raise the motor. Easy, peasy. And more often, than not, they don't even tie it off to the trailer.

Now granted, one would want to ensure that there are no nails sticking out from the trailer bed.

My concern would be the type of flatbed trailer. Typical car hauling trailers are a bit narrow and under 8' in actual width with fenders and tires extending up higher than the actual bed. This could create problems unless some sort of cribbing is utilized to heighten and widen the deck enough for the boat sit on it properly. Now if you actually have a deck-over flatbed trailer carry on, you should be good to go.
