Using boat after winterized?
Hey guys. We get some pretty crazy winters here in Oklahoma. One week can be below freezing and the next can be in the 70's. This weather pattern extends pretty much through december, and then we usually hit our deep freeze. Question: If I have the boat winterized say at the beginning of November, and then decide to take it out in late november to fish, do I need to re-winterize afterward? Thanks

If you have an inboard engine, then yes.

How about putting your toon brand and motor in your signature. Then we don't have to wonder if you have a boat.

Well, on my Sea Ray's Vortec I wouldn't even think about her until spring after a winterize. When I had a Merc 2 stroke it was this- run it quickly to clear the impeller, drain and fill the lower unit, and fog the cylinders. A 30 minute job. If the weather in Michigan lent me another weekend of boating I didn't hesitate to take the Merc back out and do steps 1 and 3 over again. I love outboards.

If it is an outboard no. There isn't much to winterized an outhoard. Top off the fuel tank put some stabilelizer in the fuel and cover it up good. If the weather is nice then drop her in the water and have a good day. When done bring her home clean her up and good to go.
I found the best thing to make sur you do is the stabilizer in the fuel.
Where I am at the winter gets cold so thee are days I can't go out. But even during the winter there are days that are cool but nice to fish. I keep mine in the slip till end of October or November. Then bring it home clean it up stabilizer in the fuel cover and put in the shop. When weather is nice will take her back out. But always when retune clean it up,good.

Thanks for the info. I have a buddy with a boat and he made it seem like this big ordeal to re-winterize it.

We southerners sometimes boat into December--on nice days. And we often are up and running in March--depending on the winds.
I really don't winterize my outboard boats. On the Waverunner, I tilt the nose high in the air and blow the water out of the exhaust system 3 times. That's it.
If there's a still 55 degree day, I may the Bennington out and make a run. I especially cherish chasing coots and other waterfowl on the lake.
