water in the impeller

#1 Post by chopper6358 » Sun Oct 05, 2014 2:15 pm

this might be a silly question,,,,but does water stay in the impeller housing after shut down or does it self drain? if water does stay in the impeller, will a couple of rotations with the starter clear it or will that tear up the impeller? i hope i don't sound stupid as hell as this is my first outboard engine,,,, thanks

If you have the motor verticle, then all the water will drain out.

Just looked at your signature and we were in Paduca 2 weeks ago to visit a friend in Knoblick. We worked together in NJ for Mercedes as techs, and now he has a farm (Sola Fide) and sells at the local farm markets.
