Any experience with Suzuki DF25A EFI on pontoon?

#1 Post by MattGent » Tue Sep 30, 2014 6:15 am

I have a 16' toon that sits in the canal behind the house. Currently has an old 2 stroke Johnson 9.9, looking to upgrade to a quieter/reliable/faster 25hp 4 stroke.

Likely going to buy the DF25A EFI, it is relatively new to market. 3cyl replaces the older carburated V-twin. Anybody have direct experience with this new model? I like the idea of EFI vs. carb, quiet operation, and battery-less pull start.

I also posted some prop questions here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18813

Thanks
Matt

For the record, I bought a DF30A. Came packaged in the crate with 12" prop, tank, fuel lines, side mount controls, box, harness, manuals, and a bunch of hardware. Only thing I had to buy was cables, a 9" prop that works for my boat, and a fuel filter/separator.

Setup and mounting was easy. You have to pull the lower cowling on the starboard side to install the cables.

Starts right up with the starter or the rope. This engine has the battery-less EFI function, but keep in mind the trim doesn't work without the battery (even when the engine is running w/o battery).

It is super smooth, quiet, shifts well. Everything you would ask of a modern four-stroke.
