electrical question
Hey guys. Ran into a bit of an issue when trying to wire up my New fishfinder today. Turns out the old fishfinder was connected to the fuse panel with a piggyback tab connector. It had a much larger gauge cable (relatively speaking) that is connected to the other circuits. Nothing can be simple plug and play. Anywho, so you guys know where I can pick one up? Auto parts store? I've never seen these before. What's the point of them?

Re: electrical question
16 ga wire is sufficient for a FF.
Is this the type of connector you're referring to? If so, yes any auto parts store as well as the Home Depot or Loweswill have them.

Re: electrical question
Do you have another spare fuse location that you can add your fishfinder to?
Very inexpensive to add another fuse holder for future use if you don't.

Re: electrical question
I do not recall seeing any free circuits. Although, I remember seeing a black and red wire with butt connectors on them with nothing attached. There is an aux switch on the dash that doesn't do anything. Wonder if that is it?
In any case, I couldn't find the connector I was looking for, but I found this instead. I think I can make this work!

Re: electrical question
The auxiliary switch may just be it! invest in a twelve vote tester if you don't have one, they are invaluable with boat voltage (12).
