Registration number location

#1 Post by dragonx » Wed Mar 18, 2015 7:22 pm

A quick question, looking at my boat I see that the registration numbers are on the pontoon itself. Where do most people put their numbers on their pontoon boats?

Your state law will specify. I think Florida was forward third of the boat, high enough to be visible. They will also specify number size and spacing between letters & numbers. I would never put them on the actual pontoons.

When I bought mine, the dealer put them on the rail/sides up front.

Same location I'd had them on my little fishing boat, only on it they were as high as possible to keep them from washing/rubbing off in the waves as it was just a little boat.

Dealer had some nice numbers with good graphics that he threw in as part of the deal.

So far they've stayed on.

Just visit your state website for boating registration. Some states are very specific about spacing, style etc. I have my exactly the way my state requires. one less reason for a visit from 5-0 while I'm enjoying some R & R

I'm in the USCG Aux and give Safety Inspections, you would be surprised how many people can't read their registration card here in Ga. that explains how and where to place your numbers :donno 3" high, space between letters and numbers, contrasting color. Midway forward. Geez
