Boat Insurance

#1 Post by LadyGT » Mon Mar 23, 2015 3:10 am

Who is the least expensive to buy insurance from? In the past we have used USAA and then AllState when our boat had low value. Now with a new pontoon on the way, I am looking for a good price.

Best boat (and trailer) insurance I’ve found by a country mile is Foremost Ins Co. 1-800-527-3905.

I had been using Boat US for years with my old boat. They were charging me right at $500. Last year I got fed up and decided to find some less expensive coverage. I end up getting a just a bit more coverage with Foremost for $152 for the year! That is a stated value plan on the boat/trailer/personal property with towing assistance, personal liability and uninsured watercraft at 300k, med payments $1000, and a $1000 deductible on boat.

With the new pontoon I’m getting this weekend they are coming in right around ~$260. That’s a pontoon and trailer stated value at close to $60k. I called last month and got a verbal quote but couldn’t lock in because I didn’t have all my vins. Boat shows up tomorrow so I’ll get all the vins and lock in.

here we go again! :lol3 :lol3 :lol3 I have my boat insured thru Progressive... full coverage with no depreciation ( for the first 4 or 5 years, not sure which ).. Don't remember what the total annual premium was, but I do remember there was a slight discount if you paid it in full, which I did... my premium with the discount was $127.00 I think this may be the last year I have the no depreciation clause, so I may be switching the boat over to Shelter Insurance when it's time for the renewal.. Shelter has everything else I own insured and they have been great - paid off everytime I've had a claim.

Boat US, never failed me in 30 years of boating. I had a $26,000.00 claim on my '06 Party Cruiser in 2011 and they didn't raise my rates a single penny, paid everything quick.

If you're still searching for coverage, I have mine through
Global Marine Insurance Agency with coverage from ACE Recreational Marine Ins. 800-748-0224

The renewal just came, $432. Agreed value of boat, 500K liability, 10K medical payments, towing, pollution, trailer, personal property, etc.

I carry high limits so my personal excess liability policy will step in and pay over and above the limits of this policy.
