Still looking (Sun Tracker)
Still trying to decide which toon to purchase. We actually looked at bentleys and sun trackers this past Saturday. After kicking the tires on both of them, we are leaning toward the sun tracker 22 XP3 with a 150 merc. It has a little less leg room than the 243 Bentley we were looking at, but we like the layout better; for us. We really like the feel of the sun tracker. I like the changing room built into the sun tracker rear facing lounge. Plan on calling around Tuesday to see if anyone in my area has one with a full vinyl floor. Anybody have any information on sun tracker? Looks like they have a 10 year bow to stern warranty now... I know I will lose my negotiating power with them, but hopefully I can catch a gift card promo. I have looked at several other makes and models online, but I have not seen anything that has really caught my eye. Are there any other makes in the same price range, mid 30's, that I should take a look at before pulling the trigger?
Options needed on my toon.
Tritoon
Lifting Strakes
Under Skin
Vinyl floor
Ski pylon
Changing room (for porta Potty)
Thank you

Re: Still looking (Sun Tracker)
its your money, but to me, the Tracker seems like it wastes an awful lot of space.

Re: Still looking (Sun Tracker)
I looked around a lot also and pulled the trigger in 2013. We found a discounted left over 2012. So you might look for a new old stock and get a better price. We love our suntracker bass buggy. This will be our third year on lake with no issues. We have a mercury 9.9 motor because of lake restrictions. Change the oil and gear lube and have a blast. I just installed new toys on mine. Fiishfinder trolling motor and electric anchor. I keep thinking about some kind of enclosure for it.
Re: Still looking (Sun Tracker)
As far as we are concerned, you can't beat a SunTracker.
You are correct about losing negotiating power, but we were able to get our dealer to throw in extras.
We got a second battery with hookups, an anchor w/ hookups, life jackets.

Thanks for the input; I went ahead and made the commitment; found a Party Barge that had the options I wanted and not to far from me. Plan on picking her up later this week, Lord Willing. I will post up some picks of her, once she is mine.
Thank you

Re: Still looking (Sun Tracker)
I narrowed my search down to the same two boats. I went with the bently. Couldn't be happier. Had to shop around but saved about 12k by doing so. Enjoy your toon.

Re: Still looking (Sun Tracker)
I still don't care for the one price sales technique. I prefer to find a dealer that's willing to compete with my business with a fair price.
My biggest complaint is in Tracker dealers' transportation and prep costs (high) and their selling prices are often quoted with too small a motor to produce the happiest customers. The delivered prices after all the add on's are often not that reasonable.
There are a number of higher quality boats that are priced the same as the Suntracker if you have a competitive retail market to shop in. Even the most luxurious brands have three or four models of pontoon boats to fit into any price range.
For example, the price on the boat you're looking at was at least $2K more than my Bennington when I was shopping.

I agree, not a fan of the one price sales technique, however, Tracker makes a nice tritoon. I looked at one at the local BP dealer several times. I found their quality to be every bit as good as the other entry level toons I looked at.
As for the Bennington comment. I like them, really wanted one. Every 22' Bennington I looked at was at least 5k more than my Sweetwater. In fact the dealer I bought my Sweetwater from is a Bennington dealer. There was a big price difference, like 5k+.
Now, was the Bennington 5k better? I don't know. Certainly nicer fit and finish.
