Let me throw another log on the fire. The price quoted to you on that boat is probably excessive. Why limit yourself to a South Bay? There are a dozen boat brands in that are in the quality of the South Bay.

If I was looking at a new boat, I'd also be looking at the big 4--Bennington, Harris, Manitou and Premier. If there are no dealers selling any of those brands, I'd be looking at the other Berkshire boats (other than South Bay), Cypress Cay, Tahoe and a bunch of other great brands.

If you cannot find a competitive dealer locally, you're very centrally located. Louisville, Lake Cumberland, Kentucky Lake/Barkley Lake and Nashville dealers are all less than 300 miles. There are a bunch of competitive dealers in that area.

littlehoe,

I was close to a deal on an xcursion but he salesguy was pushy and tried to convince me that a 90hp would push a 24ft toon 30+ no problem. from what i've read on this site that was a little unrelalistic. I think we have settled on the 724e deluxe because of the floor plan, fit and finish is amazing. placed order and factory is set to delover before memorial day if al goes well. now need to decide on a solid trailer for long hauls as we like to travel......trailer decision is harder than the boat.

Good for you to walk on that xcursion. I dislike pushy salesman, it ruins what is supposed to be an exciting experience. My dealership promised me the world too on my initial boat and it has never performed as well as they said it should however they have been nothing but helpful and now after 3 years with this engine and a new boat I think I have found the problem. Only some more testing in the spring will tell for sure...

The 90 would not be enough. Go with the 115 or 150 and that will make you much happier. Congrats on the new boat. When I got my boat it came with an easyloader galvanized trailer with the oil filled hubs. It has been great but I see now they new boats are coming with these painted karavan trailers, not to sure about painted trailers, I like my galvanized one.

Congrats on the boat! You may want to check out Extreme Custom Boat Trailers. My South Bay came with one of those and I've been very happy with it.

These guys are close to you, pricing is very competitive and it's a Mid America trailer. I just picked on up (from factory but same trailer) and I'm very impressed with it.

Good luck and congrats on the boat!

robertm,

I have a quote from them but for some reason my dealer has been very agressive about sterring me away from this particular company even though everything i can find and read has nothing but positive things to say. he's telling me they have issues with paint and rust.....would like to hear from some actual owners on them. Currently waiting for a quote on a Eagle brand custom trailer an he quoted me arounf 4500 on a brand called Heritage......still trying to decide.

I paid $3600 for my trailer picked up from the factory. The guys up in Elkhart quoted me $3700 to pick up from factory. I figured they were stepping on it for $100. Now to get it up to Elkhart I wouldn't be surprised if they charge another $300. If you want to save $400 then drive to Lebanon MO and pick up from factory. I can give you contact info if you want it.

Here's what I got:

PT26T/13DISC-DBJ-LED-TL (2” COUPLER) $3595.00

26' Flote-On Pontoon Trailer
Tandem axle, Four 13" Tires,
4500 lbs Carrying Capacity
20' Bunks, 31' Overall Length,
Dual Wheel Tongue Jack
Tandem Axle Surge Style Disc Brakes
4" frame, 31' LOA, 84" wide frame
Tandem Axle 10" SurgE style Disc Brakes

-Tri Log Kit Deluxe
Deluxe Float-ON Tri Tube Bunk Kit
with Deluxe Stand, and upgrade to
Radial Tires. (With Radial Tires
Carrying Capacity of Trailer is 5500 lbs)

-BW-PT-26
Plastic bunk covering for 21' bunk trailers. PT-26 sold in lieu of
carpeting, includes wrap for winch stand.

-Load Guide
loading guides - Black for float on trailers

-Spare matching wheel & tire mounted to trailer

One thing I strongly recommend you DO NOT get is the load guides. I'm sure they are great for a pontoon but on a tritoon they are a nightmare. Don't even ask me how I know.

The blue one you showed has the same issue with the longer load guide. If the center log hits the backside of the guide it will ruin your day.

As for quality. All the welds look top notch. The brake system performs very nicely and it pulls nice and smooth. As for rust, I don't have any yet. If a spot does start to show up hit it with a little rustoleum. I just consider this to be normal trailer maintenance.

ya they should have carpeted boards on the inside of those guides, just in case.....

I don't have load guides on my tri toon trailer and it storms everytime I go to take my boat out of the water, or maybe I wait until its storming before I try to take it out, either way I have never had an issue, just come in up wind from the trailer and coast on, once the toons are set in the front just power it on and direct it with your engine.

If you are looking for a way to load your toon very easy. Check out 4c innoventions. Great system I purchsed it last year. Only regret is it didn't cme with my toon when I purchased it. What a great way to load a pontoon. Wind no problem takes all the agervation out of
loading on a windy day or rough water.

$65k? That is almost double what I paid for my 12' SB 525. I went with the 115. It was in my budget... and every day I wish I could have gone with the 150. I have the sport package as well. You don't see to many of them out there. I am going the opposite direction of you, I am selling mine and going back to a ski boat. I only have the single bimini and mine is the CR and not the E.
