Alternative to reupholstering the seats/benches?

#1 Post by steveiam » Sun Apr 26, 2015 7:37 am

Alrighty---
I have let my vinyl go into a poor condition--
I see plenty of post where folks have just replaced the seating--
I just don't want to spend that much because we really only use this for fishing and the rest of the boat is in great shape--
I'd like to see what someone else has done in this situation, I plan on removing the corner piece and only re-do my lounge seat/couch.
The base is still good as a frame so I was thinking about framing it with wood and putting outdoor cushions over that---
I'm betting I'm not the first do something like this but I can't find thing about it so far--

Whatcha got for me ?

I have a neighbor with a fancy pontoon and a fishing pontoon. In his fishing pontoon, all the seats are removed.

They just use cheap folding webbed aluminum chairs for seating.

Before I rebuilt "Knot Normal" bag chairs and Rubbermaid garden benches were the seating since the old wood framed stuff was water logged and rotten. That deck looked like an aircraft carrier when the chairs were folded.
