Boat Fenders

#1 Post by Glide40 » Wed Jun 17, 2015 1:52 pm

Are all boat fenders created equally? Whats the big difference of the expensive ones as compared to the cheaper ones? Besides the price. What is the recommended quantity per side (2,3,4)? What length for my size boat?

Lots of our friends have fiberglass boats. Pontoons, and especially the splash shields jutting out from the front of each toon, rightfully scare the hell out of fiberglass boat owners. If you want to tie up with those kind of boats, you really need 3 big fenders on that side. I have a 22' Bennington and I have three 10" x 26 Taylor made in this style:

And if the boat has a fancy paint job, finicky owners really want you to have covers on the fenders like these:

I had a friend sew them so I didn't have to shell out $20+ for covers.

Oh.........and EZ Fenders are perfect for easily getting the fenders in the right place to protect both boats.

And I tie up tight to the other boat. If a wake rolls through, you take it in unison. One boat is not going up while the other is going down.
