Vinyl Floor Qestion
Hi all,
So i just got home with my Manitou New Aurora 23RF
I got the vinyl floor just because its a ton easier then carpet, i was quite disappointed when i picked the boat up at the dealer. they never cleaned it, only on the day before did they only take the shipping wrap off the boat from Manitou, the answer i got was "we wanted to keep it clean"
So i got it home, spent 3 hours scrubbing smudged seats and boot printed floors from some monkeys grimy hands. And while doing so i found a ridge in the floor... its obviously from where 2 sheets of plywood meet. Im wondering has any of you guys ran into this on your new boat? if so what did the dealer/manufacture do for you? I feel i paid enough for this boat they should step up to the plate and try to make it right. The only answer i have gotten is '' its where 2 sheets of plywood meet and where its a vinyl floor its more then likely to notice the variance, if you have bought sea grass or carpet you wouldnt have seen it" my answer back to then was "why didn't you sand the joints to take this ridge out!!!! is only in one spot, by the door. no wheres else"
Im waiting to hear back from the dealer to see what Manitou might do. Im quite upset by the costumer service i am getting ive told the dealer ill drive the 11 hours just to give them there boat back. Ill keep you posted what comes of it.

Re: Vinyl Floor Qestion
your right to be pissed, thats BS. also sea grass isn't like artificial turf, its nearly as flat as vinyl, so thats BS as well. My new boat came in with the wrong color vinyl teak, they would have taken it back to factory to change but I just kept it, but at least it was my call. I've heard a few dirty new boat problems, thats 100% dealer laziness. should be re-conded at delivery. good luck

Re: Vinyl Floor Qestion
I would contact the manufacturer by email cc the dealer with your complaint about poor customer service, the manufacturer will be more responsive to your complaint they don't want the bad press, they also might suggest a new dealer to go too

Re: Vinyl Floor Qestion
SO here is what the dealer was told by Manitou.... im just gonna sit on it for a day or so to think of a good answer....
" Hello ******,
we could offer him a few floating cup holders, or some hanging fenders. Its unfortunate with the tan flooring its so visible, with teak flooring there is a patter and various colors so it hides it a little better but sometimes its still noticeable. The boat is made to flex slightly to avoid cracking welds and the risers and sometimes this flexing well also highlight the variance in the plywood thickness.
the unit it perfectly safe W/o and structural issues what so ever."
someone from manitou
Ok so back to me, I understand they they might build the boat to "FLEX" a bit to avoid cracking welds. where he says it might highlight the plywood thickness is BS. the boat hasnt been in the water yet! why would it show stress marks already! I feel this isnt over yet.
the cupholders and bumpers are a joke! i bought a bunch of floating cupholders for it when i ordered it. if they looked into the build sheet of they boat that would have seen that, and wouldnt have suggested it. they are trying to offer the cheap way to push me off..

Re: Vinyl Floor Qestion
I wrote the dealer a nice pleasant long email today replying to the email i had received from them on Friday.
I got a question about Bimini tops. the front bars that hold it open. should they be tight to keep the top tight? mine were loose and the top doesn't seem to be tight enough. looks like i should pull the top down a bit and tighten the setscrews.

I had the same thing with Sea Grass, I don't know why they don't use a tongue and groove type plywood.
I told them to send me the adhesive I don't trust the Dealer doing it, I'm going to get a syringe and inject the adhesive down under the Sea Grass and put some weight on it overnight I will post some pictures when I'm done and let you know if it works.
Here are some pictures of what it looks like, the pontoon is a 2014 Harris.

You could use any number of free image resizers... Faststone is a good one:

Re: Vinyl Floor Qestion
Sorry to hear you are having to fight this.
By contrast, we ordered our new boat sight unseen form the factory, the dealer did not have this exact model in stock, so much of our decision was based on the images in their 2015 catalog. Much to our surprise, the layout was different from what was in the diagrams in their catalog -- not necessarily bad, but different enough for us to notice. I asked the dealer about it and he confirmed that it was indeed different than what he expected. He suggested I write him a letter that he could forward to the mfr with my recommendation for a fix. I suggested that they throw in some additional options that included SS grill and pedestal, under rail mood lights, under water lights, lighted cup holders, and a couple of other items that totaled around $2,300. They said ok, no problem.
Easy fix for the mfr and dealer which resulted in a happy customer.

Re: Vinyl Floor Qestion
Thanks Dan ,
I finally spoke with a gentalman from manitou tongiht, It was a good constructive talk. he had his story with the vinyl floors and they all do it.. I said I understand that can happen... BUT IT HADNT MADE IT TO THE WATER i told him! lol i gave him a little threat. i said Michigan is 22 hour drive from my house.. i said its only time and if we cant fix this over the phone ill have time to drive there with the boat, and pull in the yard to talk to the boss's man. TO see if this is up to there standards. he was a very understanding person.
so he had some offers, they sent it to me in a email about a weekago.(cup holders, dock bumper) i told them no. He brought up that i had a couple sugestions and asked what. so i said a credit towards the boat. or i would take in Snap in Sea Grass weeve carpet. $1900 option. he was going to take it back to the boss. and get back intouch with me.
ill keep you fellers posted!!!

Farmer dre.... sorry to hear about the issues with you brand new boat.. that really sucks and is a load of crap from the dealer.... I've got a vinyl floor on my toon and there are no creases or bulges in the floor anywhere... I hope you can get this issue worked out, as I'm sure it kinda spoils that new boat feeling... good luck with it.
