I used to have a pop up camper years ago and before I bought it, what I really wanted was something 'like' a pop up or high-low on pontoon floats. Essentially making a very easy to trailer houseboat that I could also use as an RV anywhere I wanted to go. If those are manufactured, they're so rare I couldn't find 'em, unfortunately. And the problem with homemade versions (this is not the first one I've seen) is weight and weight distribution, this one being no exception.

Of course you'd want large toons for the additional weight but assuming you had that, you'd want the camper in the middle of the boat for distribution. BUT, no popup/high-low I've seen has a back door so you'd be cutting your toon in half. Next best placement would be at the bow since most toons are heavier in the rear due to the engine. But then you couldn't see if you were driving, at least certainly not with the camper in the 'up' position anyway. Not to mention that the camper would likely be so heavy that the bow is sinking lower in the water than the stern. So the camper MUST be put in the back of the boat. And look at the water line on those toons in the OP pic... nearly submerged at the back.

Oh well. Despite it's issues, I bet this guy loves his boat though!

That Camp-toon certainly exceeds the DMV 8' wide max allowed so probably has a "wide load" sign .

I actually considered doing something like that. I was looking at a motorcycle popup trailer. In the down position it would have been a table, tanning platform, and extra storage area. Once the catfish quit biting, two minutes later I would have a bed.

Not quite finished yet, still fabing up a "wet bath" with terlit and shower.
It has been in the water, and managed 29MPH with the wrong prop!!

It will be ready with all the comforts of home, A/C and plumbing (all I need)(and beer) for opening weekend of teal season.

4 stroke Suzuki 115, bumped the rev limiter at 29mph in a small lake. I'm interested to see what it will do loaded for a weekend, and with time to play with the jack plate and trim....

just saw a 42' rv on tv drive right in the water. 2 for the price of 1, but 1,200,000. nice house boat but I wouldn't want to fish off it.
