pressure in toons

So I thought I had water in a tube so I pulled the plug, of course plug was stripped from factory so pain in the ass to remove and now I need a new plug. But I assume I don't have to pressurize the toon do I? Just put in new plug? Thanks. bye the way the was no water in it so all this was for nothing.

If your toon had pressurized tubes from the factory there will be a Schrader valve somewhere and usually a warning label giving a max pressure (usually 3-4 psi).

Thank you, I couldn't find anywhere to add air and thought I'd read that they repressure them selves but when that air came woshing out I figured I better ask, Thanks again.

Follow up question. Is galvanized plug ok or should I use the shitty plastic ones again?

A galvanized plug in an aluminum fitting is a bad idea as dissimilar metals will corrode.

If it were me, I'd use the plastic & keep a couple on hand for the next time you check the blinker fluid in your toons.

any idea who would carry them online? The 3 marinas near me don't have them. the hardware stores have really cheap pluming plugs.

Do they have "Farm" stores in NH like Orschelns, Tractor Supply, Atwoods?

In their "Ag Sprayer" sections, they have a lot of fittings that are superior to plumbing fittings.

Another place is "United Plastics".

When I was in business, we bought TONS of valves, clamps and other items from them.

They have all grades and sizes. I'm not sure about how much quantity you have to buy though.

I bought aluminum plugs from McMaster Carr. Regular 3/8 NPT plugs. old jim

i would stick to plastic aluminum to aluminum might get really ugly to get out next time?

Brass is the best choice if you can find it. Most "big box" home improvement stores have the specialty fitting area where the items are packaged each. I've had good luck finding brass pipe thread plugs in that section.

I've seen brass everywhere, I thought that would be as bad as any other metal. No?
