Most pontoon boats use 25" lower units. The exception is the boats using the original Yamaha SHO motors when they just came in 20" versions commonly used on bass boats. Manufacturers had to cut down their transoms 5" to use the SHO's.
Yep, any Tracker dealer should have known which motor to put on that boat.
$800 for a stainless prop? You can get an Enertia prop for $479 online.

the dealer I'm sure is quoting Retail on the prop but I'm not paying for it.
I called tracker to ask which motor fits this boat and they spec'd a 20" shaft (exact motor on this boat), so the dealer has done what they asked in this case. I
agree that a 25" shaft would fix most of these issues, now I need to get Tracker on the phone so I can get this done!

I agree that the V on the bottom is messing things up, The motor appears to be at the right height otherwise and a 25" shaft motor would have been too long on it. This isn't the only forum where I have seen people remove that little V and had it fix bad aeration issues on higher HP engines. I had touchy trim aeration on my homemade triple toon and going from a 3 blade to a 4 blade completely cured it.

My thought on the 25" is that it will allow an inch or so of lowering the prop and a few inches of rasing the motor curing the tilt/steering arm hitting issue. Seems like the only way to solve all the issues in one step.

To me, it's up to the dealer to properly mount the engine and get the right prop on it.
Throw it back in his corner. If he's not up to the job, ask for your money back and go to a different brand.
We ask so many things out of our tritoon boats--including riding fast, cruising slow and carrying heavy weights in the front seats that might lift the motor out of the water somewhat. The ultimate pontoon boat would have a 5" setback hydraulic jack plate that could be adjusted for every situation.

Its in his corner, they are trying to get it right but it takes time. I figured that I could not be the only one with this issue and perhaps I could find a similar issue here.

Not to rub salt in the wound , honest, but this is another example of why not to buy Tracker products. There is not one rational reason or excise for you to have to spend one dime to make a boat that you paid 40k for perform correctly.
It continually amazes me at the obvious lack of engineering, testing and incompetence that some of these boat makers show with the stupid assed things they do and the resulting product that they put on the market. Reading this gives me flashbacks to the issues I had when I too, owned one. Took me one summer of hell before I traded it off and chalked it up to lessons learned the hard way.
I hope you get it taken care of my friend without either losing your mind or setting it on fire in the middle of the lake...

I think a 15 X 15 prop is way to big to get your idea max RPM's.Xscash wrote:Here is the new prop 15.0x15p enertia

I agree, unfortunately I can't trim the motor to stop the nose from plowing and see what the actual RPMs and speed are.DWRAT wrote:I think a 15 X 15 prop is way to big to get your idea max RPM's.Xscash wrote:Here is the new prop 15.0x15p enertia
Can't work out the prop issue until the cavatation issue is solved. The min I trim the prop blows out. Getting pretty angry at this point.

I would never pay 40 grand for a pontoon boat with the fuel tank mounted in the water. What is tracker thinking? Not to knock your new boat but why do they mount the fuel tank in the water? never liked that setup and never could figure out why.
Much more to look at in the pontoon boat arena. May want to make them swap the boat out for you.

These types of pontoons don't trim out like a bass boat.Xscash wrote:I agree, unfortunately I can't trim the motor to stop the nose from plowing and see what the actual RPMs and speed are.DWRAT wrote:I think a 15 X 15 prop is way to big to get your idea max RPM's.Xscash wrote:Here is the new prop 15.0x15p enertia

My rpms are pretty much the same at full trim down or 1/4 trim up.
I run 6300 down and 6400 trimmed up.
Once again I would try a Spitfire prop in your case.

Re: Need help, new regency 220dlx. Cavatating and tilt issue
had time to finish the fabrication on the new pump arms today and install the newly designed hydraulics......dropped the motor to the last hole and still caveated. NOT HAPPY. time to contact Tracker cooperate. At least I was able to solve 1 issue, the motor will now tilt to remove the prop from the water for storage.

Re: Need help, new regency 220dlx. Cavatating and tilt issue
I have found many boats I like better, unfortunately I can only buy a tracker if I want to keep it on a slip on the lake in our area. The marina owner(only marina on the lake) sells tracker and will not let other brands on his dock. I actually liked my previous boat, half the cost but only a 60hp. I wanted more power and this toon is pretty awesome ....while parked!hyper wrote:I would never pay 40 grand for a pontoon boat with the fuel tank mounted in the water. What is tracker thinking? and actually, the full tank of fuel does not add weight to the boat....it is displaced because its at the water line.

I've never heard of such of a business. Are there other lakes in your area? I would refuse to do business with such a boat dealer.Xscash wrote:I have found many boats I like better, unfortunately I can only buy a tracker if I want to keep it on a slip on the lake in our area. Yep, it's time to contact Tracker Marine. It would be warranted for you to ask the dealer for return of your purchase price if they cannot make it perform right.
I never liked their one price marketing model, as it takes competition out of the equation. I have a comparable Bennington with a Yamaha F150, and it was $3K less than the "one price" comparable Suntracker triton with the 150 Mercury FourStroke.

Re: Need help, new regency 220dlx. Cavatating and tilt issue
The marina and dealership is family owned and they are actually great people....probably the only reason I have not lost my mind yet. My issue is not so much with them but rather the lack of R&D on the behalf of Tracker. I also own a couple small businesses and I understand that an issue like this has to be dealt with in a certain order according to the manufacturer. It's obvious that the transom/fuel pod is not the correct one for this boat. I am now hoping that Tracker upgrades this 14' to the 15' transom since it comes with a center log. We have done everything Tracker has asked with zero results. There really isn't any other viable option.
