Trying to decide between Lowes or BassPro

#1 Post by OBXfisher » Wed Mar 23, 2016 5:08 pm

Looking at the Lowe SF 194 vs. a BassPro Bass Buggy 18 DLX. Both powered with Merc. 60 HP ELF Command Thrust. I'll be fishing Currituck, Albemarle, Pamlico Sound area. Any input or experiences with the brands, models or suggestion?

Thanks in advance!

The Bass Buggy is a Sun Tracker and does not need to be purchased from Bass Pro it can be purchased from any Tracker dealer at the exact same price. There is a no haggle policy on Tracker boats while you may not get the best deal you will get the same deal from any Tracker dealer.

Myself I've got the 18 foot Party Barge so basically the same boat with more settees in place of fishing seats and live wells. They are not fancy boats but they appear to be well made sturdy boats. All have a huge 32 gallon fuel tank down in the motor pod and that gives you some really long legs. The 60 HP will serve you well but it is not going to have much performance beyond 16 to 18 MPH... I ended up replacing the 60 with a 75 last year to get the speed that I wanted for our very large lake.

Ended up buying a 2016 Lowe SF214 through Cabela's, was much more impressed with the Lowe than the Sun Tracker. Won't have a chance to get it in the water for a couple weeks. Anyone know the actual draft for this unit?

I have a sweetwater 2086, and the draft is basically the waterline on the toons since you can trim the motor. I have had mine in about 16 inches of water on accident. The pucker factor was hi needless to say. One rock and I was screwed. Needless to say, I've never hit bottom.
