Re: best for fishing
The perfect set up for me would be a center console setup with plenty of space on the deck up front. Throw in a couple of lounges toward the rear for the wife, and you have a pretty nice setup, imo.

smaller playpen with a couple of feet outside the rails at bow and stern. Mine has about 2 1/2 feet at bow but enclosed at stern. I wish it were open there as well. The fishing set ups are good but there's no substitute for no walls.

Re: best for fishing
I wanted to be able to fish from the front or back and also be able to tow toys or cruise. So when picking my boat, my wife and I looked at all sorts of layouts. The one that worked for us was a Sunchaser DS22 with the fishing package. It has plenty of room up front with two pedestal seats and a big deck on the back also. I troll minnows for crappie off the front in the spring and pull cranks from the rear during the summer. The playpen still holds 8 adults comfortably too. Wonderful boat.

Maholi, if you're out there post a pic, That's the perfect set up. Couple couches, fishing chairs, live well & open at both ends. Mine and his are small boats but you can get the idea of the set up. Oh yea, and they fly.

Re: best for fishing
Look at a Suncatcher

Fun to fish, and with the "Pull Pole" in the back you can haul a tube for some wet fun.
Port bow side is a live well, Starboard side is a cooler.
Stern Center is a larger live well and fishing station.
I have a bow center trolling motor.. Works good for fishing as well as a bow thruster when docking in the slip.
Port side gate is wheelchair wide. Starboard gate is 'normal' as is bow gate and stern gate.
All in all, we like ours and I'd buy another one.

Where do your batteries go in that setup? Under the stern center console?

Re: best for fishing
Trolling motor battery is under the console.
Everything else is run off the batter located just under the stern fishing station.
If I were changing it, the Trolling motor battery would be on the other side under the stern fishing station. There's room.
And I'd add a switch to be able to run 1, 2, or both batteries.
The gas filler is also there. The tank is in the pod. Easy to fill as you can reach it from either side at the marina.
Three years so far and no problems. (KNOCK ON WOOD!)

Amen on the Suncatcher. Mine is the V22 RF. Two fishing chairs and live well station in the rear, plenty of seating for the family up front. 70 lb bow mount trolling motor with remote control. 115 Yamaha and ski tow pole for tubing. Great do it all boat. Very Happy

Our lake is wide and deep--with a lot of waves and wind. Windy lakes are not kind to pontoons as you get blown into some compromising positions. There's really no substitute for a bass boat given our type of water.

Re: best for fishing
After researching and 'walking through' many makes and models, my Sylvan 20' RPT 4 PT was the best I could find. The three livewells are large. There's one in the front, one in front of the center console and one at the stern. I have yet to use all three but, if I get to do that, I'll post some fishing pics! This pontoon takes me to all fishing spots except for some of the narrowest canals.

Sun Tracker party barge, fish special. I take the two seats down but you can see where they go in the front.
85 pound co-pilot on the front.
