That article hits it pretty good, great "family" fishing boats but lack options for tackling Big Water fishing. I'd like to see a manufacture build a Toon that moves the Helm up front more with an Aluminum fishing boat style windshield setup with a fly that connect the windshield to the Bimini for a "dry" ride in poorer weather. A retired Premier engineer had a custom built Premier for sale on craigslist 2 years ago that was setup like that with the Premier SS windshield/helm setup up front and the Castaway fishing setup in the rear. I get all kinds of questions about fishing with my pontoon when people see the 9.9 Kicker hanging on the back. :drink4

Mine works as a fishing toon too...
My wife did excellent work on the seat covers (terry cloth fabric).

Our pontoon is for fishing by design. But without having a trolling motor or electric anchor yet, I seldom fish.

where men can't walk or freely talk
and sons turn their fathers in.

You can fish anyplace any other boat can fish except out in the ocean and even then on a very nice day could do that. I just don't go way out. I fish all lakes with no,problem. But then I don't need speed. Friends have the fast bass boat but rather go with me for the room.

Fished 2 McDonalds tourneys--1 on Rayburn and 1 on Toledo Bend. Boat did well--I didn't do well at all :biggrin2 Boat is a problem in stump fields. And my 55 lb remote control Motor Guide is a little light in the britches in a wind. Handles rough water very well xcept for spray in a cross wind. Or headon into large waves.

I crossed from Twin Dikes to Powell Park in the McDonalds in a constant 20+ mph crosswind from the west. Several bass boats got sunk at the weigh in when waves broke over the sterns. I followed a full grown Triton with a 250 on it out of the weighin and he disappeared from view after going over the waves-we thought he went down then we saw him climbing the next one.

I got my fence dented- Finally I got her turned north and rode the west waves-2-3 ft like the bull at Gilleys. Stayed on top of them and ran 20 mph all the way. Guy in the Triton was impressed! Wouldn't want to do it again.

I have a fishing model 20 feet with a 90 hp the chairs front and back so the front is lighter than the couches--the couches will turn you into a submarine if you don't know what you are doing. Horsepower is your friend--run rated HP.

It depends on how serious you are about fishing. Our lake is wide, deep and windy and pontoons/tritoons don't do such a good job. The still waters are hard to get into, and you couldn't get a pontoon in such tight places.

Most of the local bass fishermen move constantly, and wouldn't be caught with anything but a bass boat with 250 hp.
