So close...

#1 Post by rsscoggins » Sun May 29, 2016 6:31 am

Well the new boat arrived at the dealer and they got it prepped but unfortunately, I can't pick it up until next weekend as we are at the Jimmy Buffet concert.

So the dealer did the next best thing and sent a few pics!

Here are the specs:

Sylvan 8522 Mirage LES
150 Yamaha with hydraulic steering
EZ Loader aluminum trailer
Tritoon with RPT toons and performance shield
Silver teak flooring
Ski locker
Moveable jump/gate seat

I will pick it up next week and get the shark hide on and install a 2nd battery and on the water by the weekend.

That's nice! Post more pics when you can. Budget and dock space held me back from the 22 footer.

So Joe...how long have you had your Sylvan? Any issues so far?

Anything I need to checkout before leaving the dealer?

Yeah, I would have been better off going to get the boat. I was VERY disappointed in the Buffet concert. We have been more than a few times in the past and are questioning if we would go again in the future.

We saw Buffett Thursday and thought the show was good. Had Alan Jackson come out to do Five o'clock Somewhere. I had not seen him in several years so that had some impact

Congrats on new boat. Looks really good!

I have Got the same issue with our new boat. Came in to dealer Thursday and between concert and we are moving to a new place on lake this week, so I am not picking up till next Friday. Then gonna take a few days to put Shark hide on toons, so won't hit water till 2 weeks from this weekend. Too much going on all at once.

Buffet's music is perfect for the sound system on a boat. He's playing Nashville shortly with Charlie Daniels on the card, and most tickets are priced at $198 each--ouch. I guess keeping up 4 very expensive airplanes is expensive.

Nashville Buffet concert was Thursday. We were there. wWsh Charlie Daniels would have been there too. Alan Jackson did one song with him.

We got our Sylvan 8520 4pt. late October. No issues at all with my boat. The only thing I'm looking to 'fine tune' is the prop.

Picked up the boat today. Dealer is 1 hour away and it's been raining down here in Texas (queue Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Its flooding down in Texas...." so I tried to hit a break in the action. Got there fine HOWEVER, I should have drove the boat home and towed the truck!

More Pictures will come later! And if it ever quits raining, I will get it Shark Hyded and dropped in the water.

Very nice..... When we need to do re-do our floor covering, we will probably stay away from carpet and get something similar to the flooring you have. If looks good against the seats and ours are almost the same colour and style.

Here is a pic of the boat - the only one I could take due to the monsoons here in North Texas.

Not supposed to stop raining until today. So I will probably be Shark Hiding tomorrow after church.

Let me know how yours goes. I already see water spots on mine from the rain and it is new.

Tried wiping an area with lacquer thinner and spots remain. Don't know if I need to maybe hit it with some vinegar solution like I did with my gel coated boats to remove hard water spots.

Started cleaning and Shark hide yesterday. Went OK. Used a ton of rags as they got black from aluminum pretty quick. Other thing I noticed was to not wipe the sharkhide much at all. Wipe it on once in overlapping pattern and move on. Initially I tried to wipe it more to make sure did not miss spots and that streaked it.

Hope your weather gets better soon.
