Changed fluids today.......

#1 Post by SamiGuy » Wed Jun 15, 2016 10:07 pm

Just for peace of mind, I change all the fluid in m Yama F115LA. Motor was "serviced" right before I picked it up and for the test run. Oil at that time was clear and clean. Had what appeared to be a new oil filter. Couldn't tell on the lower unit, but no visible leak at seat. Prop did ALOT of fishing between the prop and thrust washer After ~ 2 hours, the oils was black. So I drained oil, new Fram filter, drained lower unit. Still "carmel" color, but a bit darker tint..no water...and it stank !!. New fuel filter/separator and had already draind fuel. Now running road gas E10 with RingFree and Stabil Marine 360. All left to do is change small fuel filter and possibly spark plugs. Runs strong and smooth, just feel better knowing what is in it and still over a year warranty left so used Yamalube 10-30 and Yamalube gear lube. Motor looks brand new with just a few dings and such on the skeg...may grind those out. Lubed all zirk fitting and steering cable.
Only real question is it appears that I have a lot for throttle movement at the control after engage of gear before gaining any throttle. I take it the adjustment is at the motor and shorten the throttle linkage. (Butterfly) not opening fully at WOT in driveway. Just a few degrees off fully open, but is that any concern? Any thoughts on that? Also a bit of play in the steering wheel (1- 2 inches) before movement. Thoughts there? Steering is Safe-T Wheel.
As always, appreciate all the experience and knowledge here on the forum. Advice and all thought appreciated!
Sincerely,
Sami :donno
