Ethanol Fuel Damage
This from a 2008 Mercury 60 HP 4 Stroke, helping a friend do some mechanicals on a tracker fishin barge that he was given, wouldn't start, been sitting for about 3 years, the fuel I took out of the tank looked like lemonade, this is what I found when separating the VST tank. The engine has 50 HRs on it.

Re: Ethanol Fuel Damage
After years of issues for carb problems even now with the new fuel injection system I use nothing but none ethanol fuel and even then I put in a fuel additive.

Especially now with fuel injection, used to be you just took the carbs off, stripped them down, cleaned all the jetting and ports, now there's HP pumps and sensitive injectors with micro filters.. I'll pay the extra 75 cents a gallon, on my 4 stroke 150 that's peanuts per fill up compared to the parts cost for replacing things, this MERC pump is over $500 for an OEM unit.

same here gonefishing... it's about a 30 to 35 mile round trip out of my way, but I pull the old benny up there and fill er up with ethanol free fuel and then I also a fuel additive... so far no problems that I'm aware of.

Re: Ethanol Fuel Damage
I fill up at the Marina rather than mess around with gas cans and because they sell the only non Ethanol in town. Now, only if they would let me fill up my 1939 Pontiac there as well!
BoatUS has been trying to lobby Congress to make sure the fuel standard does increase the amount of Ethanol. I suggest you click this link to reach out to your representatives.
