[quote="BLUE by you"]Using your cell phone or a cellular tablet is only good if you have service... RIGHT? If you have low or no service areas...no Nav... Is this correct? PLUS it has to eat away at data if you go this route. I'm looking at the small Garmin units... 7" screen combo units. Just wish there was a way to install it more cleanly & professionally looking.

With Navionics you can download maps for areas. If you have enough storage you could actually download the whole US map. If you do this on wifi it uses no data from you cellular network, and it works offline. In fact, my tablet I use is wifi only so there is no way for me to get internet to it on the boat but it works flawlessly. The new auto route features is pretty neat too.

My boat could look like the back A/V wall of a Walmart with all the old smart phones I have laying around... :lol3 :lol3 :lol3

I "recycle" my old smartphones and use them in the front and back of the boat so that I don't have to run back to the dash every time I want to check what is going on. Works fantastic when trolling.
