Off the the welding shop ..

#1 Post by zoom650 » Mon Mar 27, 2017 4:58 pm

With the lake lowered and my boat in the back yard, I found this under the bow, first cross brace on the port side. My slip has a short finger pier on that side and I came in a little too fast and struck the end of the pier head on. No apparent damage from looking topside, but a peek underneath .. and yikes!

Fix it now or risk something worse later. I found the shop that Bass Pro sends their work to. Thought I'd try that as opposed to trailering to the dealer an hour away.

Not an easy place to get to. The biggest concern was the heat of the tig welder to the underside of the deck. Guess I'll know in a week or so.

Can you just wet the underside of the deck right there or will that cause other problems?

That's what I would do, wet it and weld it. If you lived around me, I would be happy to weld it up for you. I want to try out my new spool gun!
