water in toons

#1 Post by buddythedog » Sat Jun 02, 2007 9:17 pm

I have an 87 Landau with the U logs on it. After a day, half day or so of boating and fixing backlash and watching my three year old "fishin' for big 'ol bass" I drain out about 20 gallons from EACH pontoon. This can't be right I know. I will change the plugs from alum. to brass when I get the boat back, but other than that I find no cracks or anything. What should I do next? :)

It might be getting water from water splash over the top near a weld, I know we can get water in round tubes by cracked welds near the top of the toons

Hope you get it figgured out

Landau tubes are actually vented on top.( At least mine are) There is supposed to be 3 or 4, 1/4" tubes that comes up then bends over, along the length of the logs. If they should happen to get broken, it leaves a good size hole for water to get in. Pressurize it like Rick recommended, and vents shouldn't be hard to find. May be a bitch finding small leaks though.
