Thanks, Curtiscapk. Pictures will certainly be posted if the test run goes well. I promise I'll post some if I end up with the boat. Hopefully the test run will go well. I'll post again then.

I'd love to see some pictures. Hint. Hint. You should be very happy with your boat. South Bay was definitely on my short list when I was buying. My local dealer just didn't want to budge so I passed.

Re: Any thoughts about a 2007 South Bay
Another update. Since so many of you took the time to share your thoughts, I thought I would post an update. We are running behind schedule, but I am supposed to take the South Bay out next week for test run. I stopped by the dealer yesterday and the toons are all polished up and look nice (I will sharkhide them, but I really want to make sure we are going to buy the boat before I invest in the Sharkhide). A new playpen cover is being made and should be done over the weekend.
I hope the test run goes OK and we end up completing the deal. I promise pictures will be added once we get the deal done.

Cruising the salt waters of East Florida.
Re: Any thoughts about a 2007 South Bay
Have I seen ANY? Are you kidding me? You may regret asking that question, but I'll answer it anyway. Have I seen any? Always.
Lots of them! OK, I have to admit that I cannot know who is illegal vs legal, but you certainly have your suspicions. When someone comes here legally they tend to respect the lake, the shore, the rules of the water, the national forests, the parks...... well, the country and our laws. When one is not here legally (in other words they are already showing disrespect for our law... in other words, they are already a criminal by breaking at least one law) they tend not to demonstrate that respect.
Here is an example. They will not use the boat ramps. It's the weirdest thing. They find a place along the shoreline from one of the areas where you can drive close to the water, and they back a boat in and launch it right from the shoreline, and leave their truck their all day with the trailer in the water. It's just the strangest thing. The shoreline is dotted with this behavior and there is a lot of trash in those areas at the end of a weekend. It's disgusting.
I am so SICK of hearing the term "undocumented resident" versus "illegal alien". Is a drug dealer an "undocumented pharmacist"? For those of you who are not in a border state, I really do not see how you could understand what we deal with. You will, because our government has no intention of fixing the problem, so your area will see the same destructive behavior that our great state has seen. I am so thankful our governor had the courage to sign HB1070. I am so proud of her for doing so. The federal government will not enforce the existing laws so we have had to make our own state law to mirror the federal law, and we will enforce it on a state level (hopefully). That is all this bill was about.
OK, sorry for the rant, but all of the national press that HB1070 just received made me sick. They make it sound like everyone's jaw hit the floor in disbelief that we could pass such a "racist" law. Wrong! 60% of the US supports the bill. 70% of Arizona supports the bill. Nearly all hispanics who are here legally support the bill. It has NOTHING to do with race and EVERYTHING to do with the law. Our hispanic population that is here legally are every bit as entitled to be here as I am. Just like anyone of european decent (or any other, for that matter) who might be here illegally has absolutely NO right to be here. Legal is legal. Illegal is illegal. It has NOTHING to do with race.
Sorry again. I'll shut up now.... but you did ask!

Thanks, Ed. Now let me take a wild guess..... our last governor probably was not on your friends list, right? I cannot believe she is now Director of Homeland Security -- that is unbelievable!!!!! The reason we need legislation like HB1070 is because she was so pathetic. So, what do we do with someone who has demonstrated no spine at all in a border state? We appoint them as Director of Homeland Security. God help us all!

Re: Any thoughts about a 2007 South Bay
I'm at the point where I think we should let the liberals have a couple of states and then seize the rest. Screw this "can't we all get along ? " BS. I can see Obama threatening Arizona and the situation escalating from there.
Liberals never compromise, they seem to think it's their way or the highway. Sorry but it doesn't work that way when we have all the guns

Re: Any thoughts about a 2007 South Bay
So woolznaz did you buy the boat? I have a 2002 odessey lextera which is now south bay boats. I have to tell ya that of all the toons i see here in kansas that I think Mine is the sweetest as far as plushness of the seats and the layout. The only problem i have is that it is so nice the wife wont let me fish off of her. any way how about an update?
Re: Any thoughts about a 2007 South Bay
Hey, BigDaddyLittleMomma,
Yep, I did buy it. I still owe pictures and I WILL provide them. We had what appears to be a starter problem, though, so I am delayed in getting some good pictures.
I will have a lot more in terms of an "owner review" of the boat once we get the starter issued addressed. The dealer has the boat at the moment.
I cannot wait to get it back and start using it. Pictures will follow, I promise. Thanks for your comments and I hope we are as happy with ours as you are with yours!

I don't know, starter issue sounds like a lame excuse for being lazy and not posting pics. Probably out on the lake, coved up with a beer enjoying the boat and the starter problem is you don't want to turn the key to head in.
We looked at a 2008 south bay tribeca (I think), with a 300hp volvo penta before we bought our Premier. The southbay was a pretty darn nice ride, but we found the premier seats more to our backsides liking.
We did see the Southbay out on the lake the other weekend and it seemed to be screaming across the water.

Sounds like a great pontoon. The 5.7 should be around 300 hp, it's probably the same motor as Mercruiser's 350 Mag which 300 hp. I would think you'd get around the low 40's in mph with a SS prop. Congrats!!!
