Bilge Pump?
My 2003 Aloha has a Yamaha 115 outboard and the area where it attaches to the boat - not sure yet what this is called, maybe the motor box - has water in it. Is there supposed to be
a bilge pump to dump it out? I cannot locate one and have tried all the switches on the
instrument panel but haven't seen any action as yet. I called the factory and talked to a
salesman about where the fuse box is located. He relayed my question to a mechenic then told me he wasn't sure but that he knew that there was a large inline fuse near the battery.
Anyone know where the fuse box is located? I'm sure it is somewhere behind the instrument
panel but I don't kow how to get at it. I'm hoping someone can give me some direction prior
to my resorting to brogan maintenance. The manuals I have are sort of generic in nature and
do not specifically cover the location. Thanks for any advice... wd2

Re: Bilge Pump?
If you are referring to the transom area just in front of the motor like pictured below.
If so this area does not require a bilge pump. You can see some stains from water in the one pictured here. As you move with any speed at all the water will drain out through some sort of opening low down on the transom. The one pictured has a sort of small slotted hole that will plug with debris such as leaves occasionally that I have to clean out so it drains properly. So enjoy your boat, you've got one less thing to worry about.Respect Our Recreational Resources

Re: Bilge Pump?
Thanks, Bamby. That is good news and you're right about
not having to worry about it. Now, if I can just find out
where the fuses are I should have everything squared away.

Re: Bilge Pump?
I/O pontoons have closed engine pods and do have bilge pumps though.

Re: Bilge Pump?
It's very unlikely that you have a "fuse box" on a pontoon boat. There should be a fuse holder with a fuse inside the battery box or it will be found outside of it. Does your switch panel somehow resemble the one pictured below.....
The small arrow points to the "fuse" on this particular switch panel. A lot of boat panels are set up with a similar type deal. If it "trips" you push the button to reset it again although I've never had one trip on my boats as of yet.Respect Our Recreational Resources

Re: Bilge Pump?
OK, you lost me. From what you described you have an Aloha pontoon boat (2 logs) with a motor pod. Your motor pod will fill and drain depending how fast you go. There is no bilge pump because there is a drain hole at the bottom of the pod which will allow water to go in and out. However your pod shouldn't sit so low in the water that it completely fills up. If that is you set up you don't have a bilge pump or need one.

Sling,
Thanks for all the help. It is a 2003 Aloha Tritoon with a 115 HP
Yamaha Outboard. Feels good to know that there is nothing to
worry about ref the water. It just seemed odd to see water in
that area as this is the first toon we've owned. Been on lots of
them as a passenger but never noticed the water situation before.
The area is not full of water - just a couple of inches.

Re: Bilge Pump?
Bamby - thanks for the photo and info. The switches look about the
same as what you show. There are six (6) swithes and I've ID'd
all of them. But there are no circuit breaker buttons associated
with them that I can find. There is an inline fuse located at the
battery box and it has a reset button on it. So, I guess that's it.

Re: Bilge Pump?
I would check inside the helm (steering console) There is most likely a fuse block in there up high to stay dry.

Re: Bilge Pump?
Mine isn't that easy, but I do have a nice access door that opens right to the fuesblock from the front, and the back.
