have you tested this mirror mount with a bimini system like premier uses. specifically, my top has the back panels and the starboard side curves in a bit with the fence that leads to the stern door. i'm thinking that this would obstruct the view.

also, the premier covers are pretty tight. how much height does the folded mirror add to the rail?

thanks.

Jafo9,

Here are some pics that might help answer your questions. These were taken on a Premier 235 Grand Majestic LTD.

The folded bracket adds 1 inch to the height of the rail. It makes the cover a little more snug but it is very doable.

Not sure about line of sight though the mirror rides high above windshield and as far outboard as possible without breaking the plane of the outer rail. The convex shape of this 4 x 8 mirror provides a wider view angle than the standard 7 x 14 mirrors used on most wakeboard boats. We have confirmed this through our own testing.

Note that the aluminum bracket shown in these pictures is bare aluminum that has not been through our finishing process. The finishing process actually tones down the sheen a little and provides a protective anodize coating. It still is a bright satin. It is a very premium look which does not come through in these pics.

If the pictures do not show in this forum, they can be seen at http://www.isolidworks.com. This is my blog.

We need to get some test data so, if you are interested, we can give you a loaner just to see if it works on your boat...

Thanks.

thanks for the pictures. i really like the concept. i'm thinking that the mirror would need to be mounted farther forward to compensate for the acute forward angle of the bimini support. here is a profile of our premier. i'm wondering how the image in the mirror would diminish if it were moved 12-18 inches forward. i'd be happy to test one for you, although even here in alabama, we are a still a few months away from any weather even resembling boating weather. i really like the fact that it mounts to the rail and is collapsable. i've stayed away from the windscreen mounted ones because i didn't want to have to be constantly attaching it to the plexiglass and then worrying about the kids getting rough and breaking the windscreen.

Howdy- I took Jeff up on his offer to try out his PTMedge PXR-100 pontoon boat mirror on our brand new 2011 Manitou tritoon Oasis VP 22 with Yamaha 150,and I must say I really really like the mirror, extremely well designed, fits the railing snug and tight and best of all does not vibrate. When we tried out the mirror last Saturday we had 30-35mph winds and 2-3 ft. chop hitting top speeds of 43mph. and the mirror didn't vibrate. Also the mirror looks snazzy,I decided to buy one since we need a high quality mirror for our sporty pontoon boat to pull skiers and tubers also to make sure I can see other boaters behind me.It's well worth the premium price.

Cheers,
Robert

could you post some pics? how far forward from the helm seat did you mount the mirror? did you try different distances to see their effect on the view in the mirror? thanks.

I'll post some pictures this weekend,we keep our boat at a marina and can't go out on the lake until Saturday. The mirror is mounted on the railing right beside the helm.

Hey Jeff

I'd be happy to perform an extended [from now til 11/1] real world test of your mirror on a used toon up here at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. :biggrin2

Coming from a former Wakeboard boat owner, the price of the mirror arm shown above doesn't surprise me at all. I like the way it looks and going to run this one by the boss and see what she thinks. I haven't pulled anything behind our pontoon yet, but could at some point and I know full well how nice it is to tow with a well placed high quality mirror above your head.

Plus, it's a lot safer when just driving the boat around as well, especially if your lake has a bunch of go fast boats on it...

I've got a question about another product you might could whip out pretty easily...a decent sized, good looking flag mast. Most Pontoon owners I've come across are pretty Patriotic and like to fly old Glory, yet the flag masts, holders, poles available now that I've seen just don't seem to be up to the task of functioning well while looking good at the same time...

LSVLance, If you want to contact us, we can discuss what you are looking for in a flag mast. I have not had any request for that...certainly open to looking into it.
