Thanks Woody

Right now I only have a 24 gallon tank under the sun deck. I want to put a 50 gallon tank inside the center tube to free up some space, but I dont think that will happen this year. Its almost 80 outside right now here in Wisconsin and I have the itch to get on the water ASAP

I picked up the tube this morning. Just need to make a stop at Fastenal to pick up a bunch of stainless hardware then its time to hang the tube.

The fab shop ended up building the tube with a small door on the top to access the transom bolts. Once the jack plate is installed I will put a small
bead of silicone arround the edge of the plate to seal it.

Tube is hung under the boat and just doing some final fastening, next step mount the transom jack and motor.

Can't wait to see what kind of difference this will make on your boat. I'm wanting to do the same to mine just haven't talked the wife into it yet!!!

I decided to get an early start this morning. I hung the jack plate using silicone at every layer of bolt washer nut......

Next I hung the motor it fits nicely, only problem is the hyd steering cylinder hits the back of the center log when trimmed out.
Im either going to get a bigger set back jack plate or set the motor higher. If I set the motor higher it will hit my sun deck and I really dont feel like modifying that.

After an hour of putzing and moving things arround my only option is to get a 8" jack plate. I found a guy local that has a used one on Craigslist, just waiting for him to send pictures.

So Ive ended up with a 10" set back jack plate. The motor plate now sits just behind the the outer tubes. The steering cylinder is now high enough to clear the top of the center tube. Steering hoses and assorted fittings came in yesterday. I also went to the local prop shop and traded in my 14.5x22 (3 blade) Raker prop for a 14.5x17 4 blade solas. Since I do alot of river runs, I decided to go with an aluminum prop to avoid last years accident. All that's left now is to route the hoses and bleed the steering system. If everything goes well tonight, I should be on the water Saturday afternoon to give it a good shakedown and start testing out some setups.

Okay, I've got a question...

Why didn't you just set the center log back about 10-12 inches? This would basically have done nothing detremental to the boats performance, and may have actually helped performance, as the rear would have more lift. Plus, it would have saved you some coin by not having to purchase another/bigger jack plate.

Just a thought. :donno

From what I have seen with two tube boats, the tubes throw water off to the sides, and would throw water right at the center tube if set back behind the outers.

I just got back from the first run on the lake, its 50 degrees, raining and about 4-5"chop.

40.2mph on GPS @ 5100rpm I have another 400 rpm to pick up so I'm going to the prop shop tomorrow morn to see if they have a slightly different one to try, 38.8 with a headwind.

It was too cold to tinker with motor height, hoping for better weather tomorrow.

So far I am very happy with the upgrades

Just got back from the lake again. I was able to watch the motor while at WOT and noticed that the deck is taking beating from the water. I want to get some underskinning on the deck this week, then do some more testing.

At WOT the front 8-10 feet of the tubes are out of the water.
I will try to get some pics when I get out with another boat.
