Dock cleaning question.

Maybe having something like this on your dock would bring your wood to "life".

Our pressure washer only puts out 1500 psi, but will still raise the grain. Since the wood decking hasn't been stained in it's 20+ years, we will be tackling it this year. Our neighbor has a similar sized dock and based on how long it took her, we figured that it will take a full week of washing and then staining will take several more days after that.

We haven't decided on what stain to use as yet.

I am bragging- -- My dock is so big it has lights and a dock box for storage.

I hate to admit it, but it is a community dock. 20 of us, plus our wives and families, all share the same dock.

We still have fun with it.

We have a pretty big dock too. It's not a community dock, but sometimes the neighbors come over, and have lots of fun on the dock. My wife likes to sit on my dock, and watch the other boats go by.

OP: If you are thinking of having someone else do it, DO NOT use Wood-Renew. While the initial job looked good (they did our decking and stairs on the house as well), when we noticed some premature fading we called the franchisee. He never answered our calls. Found out the local guy quit; calls to the national office in Springfield, MO were met with promises, but no action.
We won't make that mistake again.

Good point. Just today I was going a little to fast with my slippery hardwood dock. Just about ended up in the ole' a$$hole. Talk about a shocker!

Simple solution - just recover with teak. naturally slip-resistant, and weathers beautifully.

IPE is about the same and a little more reasonable but still OMG expensive. I saw them redecking part of the bight in Key West with IPE and I took all of the cut offs I could carry (they were throwing them away). These are handy for making little wooden widgets for your boat like drink holders etc.
