Newbie from the Nashville Area
Hello all,
I just purchased my first boat a couple of weeks ago. After a 32 degree water run (wow!), it went to a storage unit. It's a 2006 Sun Tracker Bass Buggy 18 (20 foot oddly enough). It has a 60HP Mercury Bigfoot 2 stroke, live well, and Motor Guide Trolling motor. It was clean as a whistle and was a bank repossession, got it for around $8,500 with tax.
Can't wait to get out on it. Buying a boat and putting it in storage immediately is killing me!
I hope to tow it home for this coming weekend if it doesn't rain. I have new JBL Speakers and a cover to install.
Thanks for being such a resource. i have been reading the new posts daily on tis forum since I bought the boat!

Welcome. You're in the back door of Percy Priest Lake, and I'm sure you'll learn every inch of that large lake. It's held up very well since they closed the dam in 1968.
After high school, we hung around a big island out from Smith Springs Road. It's the one with the 50' cliffs that to jump off from. It's got good deep, clear water on the eastern side.
My father started going to Percy Priest Dam @ 4:00 a.m. every morning (when he retired.) He claims to have had "rockfish fever," and it is a disease.
Now you've got the boat to enjoy your lake from.

It hit 23.1 mph on the GPS during the water test with 4 people aboard. I was kind of surprised. It feels pretty quick. I'm still learning the differences between the 2 stroke and 4 stroke, but I was told the 2 stroke will give it a little extra grunt.curtiscapk wrote:WElcome! Agreed great find! Hey Bamaman, the plan is to keep it at Fate Sanders Marina on Percy Priest during the warm months. We shared a 22' Party Barge with a friend for 3 years (we paid the slip rental, man I miss that deal!) I got to know Percy Priest pretty well and camped on the island right across from the tall bluffs. It's a busy lake sometimes and not as clean as Center Hill, Dale Hollow or Tim's Ford, but still a nice lake with pretty solid fishing.

Re: Newbie from the Nashville Area
You're just 1 1/2 hours from Center Hill, 2 hrs. from Dale Hollow and 1 1/2 hrs from Tims Ford. Don't forget that there are some other beautiful lakes close to you--like Old Hickory (30 minutes) , Woods Resevoir (1 hr.) and Lake Normandy (45 minutes). They're just all different, but every one has fabulous fishing.
You know, Murfreesboro is a centrally located place for a boater to live. You also have Tennessee's largest undergraduate university in town.

23 is a great speed without the lifting strakes and with the 23 in tubes it looks like. Welcome to the forum--you are surrounded by beautiful lakes..

That's not bad, my boat is 22 ft and with 4 people onboard I only get 19.7 mph with a 4 stroke 70hphaganjeff wrote:It hit 23.1 mph on the GPS during the water test with 4 people aboard.
