Im looking at this Trolling motor
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CK ... d_i=507846
I dont want one that stores on deck because one I would have to modify the door and I dont want it in the way of my disabled son since if we go to town on the boat we will have his wheel chair on board. And I cant find any others that store vertical . Minn Kota is out for personal reasons Had 2 of them fail during tournaments

Im just worried that to get the varimax in the water Ill have to have the head almost on the floor which will be a PITA to operate . Im planing on mounting it on the port side just inside of the of where the foot rest rail is . If it is to short I wondered how hard it would be to cut it and extended it between the mount and head .

I have one on my toon and love it. I mounted it sideways on the right side but had to remove part of my side rail in the front. It works great. Here is a picture of how it looks for you.

Thanks , The one Im going to order is going to have the simple pontoon mount so it is going to just slide up and down . Is yours a 50" , does it sit a comfortable height ? How does it pull you along ?

I have one mounted at the front, just to the right of the bump bars, on my 20' Sweetwater. I bolted a heavy, aluminum angle to the front, and then bolted 5/4 treated decking to that; just large enough to be able to bolt the transom on. I turned the head around 180 degrees so blades and handles would face the back. Pontoons are only 19", so only needed 42" shaft on troller. Tried it out the other day, and it worked great. 55# thrust moved it more quickly than needed at higher speed, but it was mostly calm lake waters. I had a little space between the console and rail, so I store it there, and lock it, out of the way. Want picture, let me know.

Yes mine is the 50" and it does quite nice even in a strong wind. The height is great and easy to control without being in the way when fishing
