Pooling water
I am curious what everyone does about water pooling in the seat bases. It is just from rain, the boat is normally on a covered lift so it is not a huge problem. But, if we get caught out in the rain or something like that it happens. I do not like leaving it because of possible mold issues. So I either mop it up or vacuum it out. Either way a pia. There is no drain holes in the seat bases and I do not know if I should add some.

put up some pics of the insides of your seats... might help us to visualize what might work.

Re: Pooling water
Are the compartments fully enclosed? On my boat, the longer compartments have the playpen as the back wall, and it's elevated off the floor for drainage. If the boat were to be angled slightly I can see some pooling occurring against the interior walls of the compartments though. Hmmmm.
If I were to drill drainage holes, they would NOT be thru the floor. They'd be thru the seat bases out onto the deck. And I'd drill them from the outside in so as not to accidentally mess up the floor where it could be seen.

Re: Pooling water
Maybe it would help to tilt the lift in the front so when it is raised, the water would head towards some drain holes you could drill into the downhill ends of the seat bases....

Re: Pooling water
I already have the lift tilted with the back low. That helps drain the floor well. In looking at the inside of the seats you will see the center is raised. The only low areas is what is against the floor. As mentioned I would not want to drill into the floor either. If I was to drill out the front I would damage the upholstery I think. Maybe the back?

Re: Pooling water
My 2001 Bennington has plastic seat bases (rotomolded?) It came from the factory with holes drilled in a couple of corners drilled through the seat base and the deck. When I recovered my floor with vinyl, after re-installing my seats, I drilled through the vinyl and deck to replicate the way it came from the factory.

Same with my Sun Tracker to which I've since added a couple more and enlarged them all to about 1/2"sunedog wrote:My 2001 Bennington has plastic seat bases (rotomolded?) Re: Pooling water
My Berkshire which is the same as the South bay already had drain holes drilled in the plastic bases, I added a few also in areas that were more prone to hold water
